Hey, guys. Dr. Anthony Pellegrino from Absolute Chiropractic in Sea Girt, and today we’re going to talk about something that actually is really important, and about 15% of couples in the US suffer with, and that’s infertility. Now, a lot of people when we think about infertility, maybe chiropractic isn’t the very, very first thing that comes to mind. The typical thing that we kind of do to combat this is a lot of doctors will prescribe things like IVF, different medications, and overall, we’re told that it happens more often when we’re like really, really, really stressed.
But here’s the thing, guys, is we live in a really, really, really go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go society. We’re constantly moving, constantly doing things, and that puts our body into a state of what’s called fight or flight. All right? Fight or flight.
Now the thing is, and what we as chiropractors look at is just why our body, why our nervous system is stuck in this fight or flight. Why? And the thing is is, guys, that since the time that we’re born, when we’re ripped out by our head from our mom, to when we’re texting like this, day in, day out, sit in a desk, from the different traumas that we have in our life, what happens is our spine goes and it takes a lot, a lot, a lot of trauma.
Now, the thing is is that 90% of the information that your brain processes at any given moment is postural. So when you think about it, like, we’re born. Okay. So the information going up to the brain, bombarding the brain. Okay, we start texting, day in, day out, and we’re sitting at desks, day in, day out. We’re sitting at a computer, day in, day out. We do a header in soccer, day in, day out. Every little thing that we do is just constantly bombarding, bombarding, bombarding, bombarding, bombarding, bombarding, bombarding the brain. And it puts us into the state of fight or flight.
Now, this happens for a reason. If there were to be something like a lion that were to cross your path, you bet your body would be in fight or flight because that’s what we need to do to survive. So what’s going to happen when we’re here is that our heart rate is going to come up. Our blood pressure is going to come up. Our body’s going to literally take blood flow away, away from places like the digestive organs, away from the reproductive system, away from the lungs, the heart, et cetera, and it’s going to shunt it out to the muscles. It’s going to take all of the blood flow away from these vital organs and it’s going to shunt it to things like the muscles so that we can do one of two things. We can fight, or we can run. Now, with a lion, I’m not fighting. I’m running. I don’t know about you.
Now, what happens is that because we’re constantly bombarded by this, when the lion leaves, when that stress leaves and we no longer have that, our body is supposed to come back to the opposite where we’re in our parasympathetic nervous system state, which is where we can rest, we can digest, we can heal. But the thing is is that because we’ve been constantly bombarded for years and years and years and years, this never gets to function the way that it’s supposed to, because we’ve been stuck here.
Now, what we as chiropractors look to do is correct the cause of the issue, so we look to remove this interference, to deliver pinpoint specific adjustments to correct that structure of the spine that’s been damaged for years and years and years, removing this bombardment, correcting this bombardment of information coming from the brain so we can get out of the state of fight or flight, and let us get back to the place where our body can rest, digest, can heal.
Because let’s be real, guys. If our body’s just worried about surviving, fertility really isn’t going to be high on its list. But when we can put that body into a relaxed state where it’s supposed to rest and digest, well, not only will we see improvements in just, like our ability to breathe, to be able to sleep at night, see our blood pressure come down, see our body go more relaxed, be able to adapt and handle more of the stresses that come our way, whether or not it’s being able to sit at a desk for longer, or handling that annoying coworker every day. Not only can we adapt to those things better, but we literally create the environment, we cultivate the environment in which the highest amount of fertility is possible. That’s the reason that we get to see so many couples in our office who have been able to really fight through that and see huge improvements in just their lives, in their families, et cetera.
Thank you guys so much for watching this today. If you guys have any questions, post in the comments below. I’d love to talk science with you guys. This is absolutely what I do for fun, so thank you guys so much.
