Chiropractic: Another piece to the autism puzzle?

Research sheds light on how chiropractic care can effect behavioral symptoms of autism

A recent study in the Journal of Pediatric, maternal, and Family Health may help shed some light on how chiropractic care can help with behavioral symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The case series describes how chiropractic can affect the “social engagement” system of the vagus nerve. Improper function of this nerve can cause difficulties in gaze, interpreting human voice, facial expressions, and head gestures in children with autism.

By analyzing and correcting the cause of nerve interference from subluxation, the children not only saw improvement in those areas, but also from bed wetting, picky eating, constipation, and spatial awareness — one child even won a “Most Improved Student” award!
